ABOUT

Hello, I’m Sandy Collins and I”ll be your tour guide on My Rocky Road. Someone has to pave the way.

Like you, I’m defined by a lot of labels. Human first. Then mother. Then a bunch of others in no particular order: Journalist. Radio Personality. Writer. Over-thinker. Abuse survivor. My friends and family consider me funny, always good for a belly laugh. I’m a romantic, a realist, and a rambler. Mostly, curious.

it was a good hair day

I’ve asked questions as long as I can remember. I longed to know how things worked. How do you know that? What I was looking for was my inner voice. After years of searching, I’ve found it. Though unlike me, she isn’t always very loud. So I keep encouraging her to “speak up!”

If the internet had existed when I was young, I’m sure I would have locked myself up in a room and would have never had a newspaper route, or played softball, or eventually gone to college and had a great career on the radio.

Learning how to be on the radio changed my personality, for the better. Read more and you'll find out how.
Me in the studio, where I am most comfortable.

That’s why I’m doing this blog. (I hate the word blog! Too close to blob!) I’m sharing the stories of my experiences, most of them have never been publicly shared, for several reasons. First, I need to work out some things, and my favorite therapist encouraged me to write, write, write. I know writing down the hard stuff will soften the blows, and allow me to work through the pain. Second, I love to connect with others, and want to offer my stories to those who wish to connect on common ground. Third, I’m working on a memoir, and of course this will help.

There is so much to learn in this life, and it’s impossible to do it quickly. My hope is that you see yourself or someone you love in these words and it helps, somehow.

Sandy
